Linkin Park - The Catalyst (Official HD)

Hey everyone just thought I leave on a high note since this will be my last blog post of the semester. This song was played before every home football game this year and it made the hair on the back of my neck stand up and got me ready to play the game. Everyone have a great break and be safe. Later!

Lifehouse - whatever it takes with lyrics

For those of you who don't know who Lifehouse is this gives you a little taste of what they bring to the table. This is my older sister's favorite band. I wouldn't say they are one of my favorite bands that I would listen to all the time, but once in a while everyone needs a feel good song.

Sick Puppies - Maybe

Here is band I hadn't heard of before, but thankfully I have my older sister who has about the same type of taste of music as I have. They remind me a lot of the band Lifehouse. If you haven't heard of them they sing mostly what consists of love songs kind of. This song just like "Broken Bones" makes me feel good and also makes me feel relaxed.

Move Your Body-My Darkest Days

Hey everyone I'm back with another video from My Darkest Days. The first song I posted from them was called "Pornstar Dancing". Again just while listening to different bands trying to find other songs I like I found this gem. This song makes me want to get up and dance. It must be the fast beat it has.

Rev Theory - Broken Bones (Lyrics)

Hey everyone back again with another video for you to watch. I came along this song while just surfing through youtube. I found out that they are compared to a band that I have like for a long time. Theory of a Deadman is who I am talking about. This songs make me feel good. Not like energetic just like a relaxing good feeling. Hope it does the same for you!

Sources!

While researching for my project about how music effects personalities and therapy I found this great source and I wanted everyone to see it!
Rentfrow, Peter J., and Samuel D. Gosling. "The Do Re Mi's of Everyday Life: The Structure      and Personality Correlates of Music Preferences." Journal of Personality & Social    Psychology 84.6 (2003): 1236-1256. Academic Search Elite. EBSCO. Web. 8 Nov. 2010. This is a case study done dealing with individual differences and how music is used in  everyday life. They came up with four different music-preference dimensions: reflective   and complex, intense and rebellious, upbeat and conventional, and energetic and  rhythmic. These were determined from a wide variety of personality traits like openness,         political orientation, etc. This case study supports my thesis that personalities do not change from music the type of music people listen to.

Scott, Elizabeth. “Music and Your Body: How Music Affects Us and Why Music Therapy Promotes Health.” About.com. 1 November 2007. Web. 20 November 2010. This article spoke about the effects music can have on your body. It shows results from research that has been done to find the benefits music can have on your body by looking at brain waves, heart rate, and state of mind. It’s no surprise to the author of this article that music has shown to help the body stay healthy. This article supports my thesis that music is  beneficial for therapy and other bodily functions.

“Music Therapy.” Cancer.org. n.d. Web. 20 November 2010. This article talks about how music therapy is being used for patients dealing with cancer. It talks about the history behind music therapy and shows evidence supporting the use of music therapy. There has yet to be any complications  or problems associated with music therapy. This article supports my thesis in saying that music therapy is beneficial during the recovery and treatment process.

“Music and Its Effects on Our Emotions: Can Music Really Change Your Mood?”            Associatedcontent.com. Yahoo! Contributor Network. 17 March 2008. Web. 21 November 2010. This article talks about whether or not music can change your mood. They believe that music does change the mood you are in depending upon the type of music. An example would be the music in a casino. It is always upbeat and fun so you will have a good time and spend more money. This article supports my thesis that music can change your mood, but not your personality.

Collingwood, Jane. “Preferred Music Style Is Tied to Personality.” Psychcentral.com. n.d. Web.   21 November 2010. This article talks more in depth about the actual types of music          people with certain personalities prefer to listen to. They said that people express and   identify themselves through their clothes and such so it’s no surprise we would do the   same with the music we listen to. Which is why people get so defensive when you talk      about their type of music because they take it on as a piece of them, so they take it as an          insult to them. This article supports my thesis of music does not change the personality of        someone rather that certain personalities choose certain music.

This article supports my thesis that the type of music we choose is           based off of our personality.

"Say You'll Haunt Me" - Official Video

Hey everyone I have another song from Billboard.com's top 25 countdown. This song is listed as the number one song for this week. I believe it has been on the top for quite a while now. Dylan Rosier, a fellow football player, was the one to tell me about this song. It's a great song and it gets me pumped up! Hope you enjoy. Peace out.

Porn Star Dancin' - My Darkest Days

Hey everyone I'm back with yet another top song from the top 25 list on Billboard.com. This song is called "Porn Star Dancin" by My Darkest Days. This is kind of a punk rock or alternative type of song. It is really upbeat and makes me want to dance. Which no one wants to see by the way. I realize a lot of girls will probably frown upon the lyrics to this song because it's basically saying that strippers can be a substitute for them. Anyway hopefully you enjoy! Peace out.

B.o.B - Airplanes (Feat. Hayley Williams of Paramore)

Hey everyone I'm back and have a little change of pace for those of you who think I only listen to rock and country. This song brings back some memories of Lake Pondarosa with my buddies from high school over the fouth of July weekend. We went there and had a great time we boated, tubed, and wakeboarded all weekend. One of my best friends played this song over the speakers on their speedboat. He pulled off a back flip on his wakeboard while this song was playing. So once again more great memories from all sorts of music. Enjoy peace out.

Jason Aldean - My Kinda Party

Hey everyone I'm back with another new country hit. This new song is called "My Kinda Party" and it is sang by Jason Aldean. This song really makes me happy because it is a more upbeat type of song. Also, we've played it before when my friend and I have been hanging out and having a good time by a bonfire or something so it also brings good memories. Hope everyone enjoys one of my new favorite songs. Peace out.

Michael Jackson - Thriller

Hey everyone due to the fact that I am still in the Halloween crave. I thought that I would give everyone one last chance to savor the Halloween spirit for one more quick minute until we have to wait another 365 days for the next Halloween. This is a classic by the way. Peace out.

Pray for You - Jaron and The Long Road to Love :: Official Video

Hey everyone this song is fairly old, but not old enough! This song just makes me laugh most of the time so I thought it might put a smile on somebody's day. Especially if you're mad at your girlfriend or boyfriend for any reason. Peace out.

Volbeat - Hallelujah Goat

Volbeat

Hey gang I'm back with a rock band that I was told about by one of football teammates. Dylan Rosier, a fellow linebacker, knows how much I love rock music just asked me one day, "Hey Zap have you heard of this band Volbeat?". Of course I had not and he had me listen to this song called "Hallelujah Goat". My first thought of this band was how unique the singer's voice is it is something I have never heard before. Now that I have listened to Volbeat a little more I have realized that I like more of their songs. I'll be posting a youtube video of the song for you to listen if you would like. Peace out.

Danny Gokey - My Best Days Are Ahead Of Me

My Best Days Are Ahead of Me

One of my favorite songs that I listen to when I'm stressed out about school or just life in general is "My Best Days Are Ahead of Me" by Danny Gokey. He is a fairly new artist on the country music circuit. This song helps me realize that no matter how tough life is right now it is only the beginning of my life and that I have a lot of years left to enjoy. When it comes to school and how stressful that can become I remember that the harder I work in the classroom the better off I will be when I graduate. This song also applies to me very well because my dad has told me this a lot throughout my lifetime. It just makes me stop and think things through and bring them back into perspective.

My Brother's Wedding

Jordan's wedding took place in the summer of 2009. It was a grand old time music, dancing, family, and of course food and beverage. lol... The main reason I am writing this is because of my brothers wedding song or the first song as Mr. and Mrs. Zaputil whatever you would like to call it. The song is called "Then" and it is written by Brad Paisley. My thought was country song yes! I like this song because it really kind of maps out the lives of those two. I mean they dated on and off all the way through junior high and high school and basically grew up together and now she's PREGNANT and is due real soon. I don't just the way the song seems to flow just reminds me of them and makes me smile.

Colt Ford "Ride Through the Country"

Colt Ford

Good ole Colt Ford is my response to the people who don’t think I like any type of rap. This is a sort of country-rap. Laughable right? I really think it’s pretty cool. When I’m at a party and they ask me to put on a rap song I’ll put on some Colt Ford. When people are drunk they can’t tell the difference they’ll start dancing and breaking it down or whatever people want to call it (cutting rug maybe?). They finally figure it out when John Montgomery starts singing a chorus halfway through the song. Some songs that I like would be “Ride Through the Country”, “Chicken & Biscuits”, and “No Trash In My Trailer”. When asked why he raps country Colt will say, “It’s because I have no singing talent what so ever.” I’ll put a song for you to listen to after this post. Peace out!

New Kid On the Block

One of my friends, Matt Meinert, told me about a new country singer that was country and a little rock at the same time. So I listened to the song and I loved it. His name is Brantley Gilbert and the song he sings is “Kick It In the Sticks”. I listen to this song quite a bit because it makes me relax and have fun. I know there are a lot of nah sayers out there who absolutely hate anything to do with country music, but don’t judge it until you hear this little piece of heaven for yourself. Actually I’m going to make it easier for you to do so.

KICK IT IN THE STICKS - Official Music Video

Breaking Benjamin

I would like to talk about the band Breaking Benjamin today. I got this idea to write about them this morning while I was driving to school this morning. Their new cd came out a few months ago. The album is called “Dear Agony” which is also a song on the album. These guys have been one of my favorite bands for years ever since my brother told me about them when I was in junior high. The first song I ever heard from them was “So Cold” this song helped me get ready before football games or any other athletic event.  They have four albums out: Saturate, We Are Not Alone, Phobia, and Dear Agony. Just saying if you guys want a little rock in your life maybe Breaking Benjamin will feed your hunger.

Music helps me get through each and every day. Depending upon the mood I am in is how I choose what genre I would like to listen to. When I am trying to relax or I am in a good mood I generally listen to some sort of country music. It just seems to lighten the daily grind of school and football. There is just something about the twang of country music that just makes me want to jump out of my chair and start dancing. When I am trying to fire myself up, focus, or if I am just for some reason pissed off I will listen to rock or heavy metal type music. This seems to get my blood pumping more than anything. Rock seems to help me study as well because I like to take breaks from time to time while I am studying. Rock helps me gather myself and refocus. This also goes for when I am preparing myself for a football game. Hope everyone enjoys Music To My Ears.
